Halladay Befuddles White Sox

Roy Halladay may have walked onto the mound minus an internal organ, but his arm was fully intact Thursday night when pitched a brilliant seven innings just 19 days after an emergency appendectomy.

Halladay allowed just six hits and struck out seven to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 2-0 win over the Chicago White Sox.  It was the ace pitchers’ 100 th career win.

Manager John Gibbons was impressed with his speedy recovery.

“Everybody is surprised,” Gibbons said before the game. “Knowing the man, we shouldn’t be really.”

Halladay struggled in his previous two starts, including a seven-run pounding from Boston the day before his surgery.   But he re-found his form on Thursday, tossing a brutal arsenal of pitches.

Aaron Hill and Frank Thomas both had solo homers to bolster Halladay’s impressive outing.

Casey Janssen pitched the eighth and Jeremy Accardo finished things off in the ninth for his sixth save.
