Beware Of Booking Flights Online

More and more people are booking flights online and it can save you money, but if you’re not careful you could end up grounded.

Would-be traveler Samantha Whitehall tried to book a flight online and ended up losing $600.

“I planned to take this trip for over a year to visit my friend who moved to London about two years ago,” said Whitehall .

She went online, booked a flight and went about her day. Four days later, she received a confirmation letter saying her dates were booked… but they were for the wrong month. Apparently while she was scrolling through the page, her cursor was still in the date box and it jumped two months forward.

“I gave them a call, just to say that I had noticed these dates were wrong, and they just said ‘you only had 24 hours and unfortunately at this point there’s nothing you can do,'” says the Toronto-area woman.

While she was able to get the taxes back for the flight, she had to soak up the cost of the tickets, about $600. Online experts suggest double and triple-checking the dates and flights before submitting your booking. As well, a confirmation letter is almost always sent out immediately after the booking and this is the time to confirm your information.
