A dangerous police chase came to a fitting end Saturday, when a suspect ran into an east end home and came right into the domain of an angry rottweiler.
Five-year-old Romeo appears to be one of the heroes of the day. The pooch grabbed the suspect and held on while his owner ordered the intruder out.
“He tried to hide out in our house,” said the dog’s owner, John. “He just opened the door, walked in and my rottweiler grabbed him.”
Police say the chase began with a 911 call made by a witness who claimed a man had just dragged a woman into a silver car. A brief pursuit began at Dundas and Carlaw after the man pushed the woman out of the car.
The suspect rammed two police cruisers before he took off on foot, with police following close at Eastern and Leslie. Things came to a biting stop moments later when the suspect ran into the wrong house and was confronted by the dog.
A man in his 40s is in custody, accused of attempting to abduct a woman in her 20s.
