Lawyer ‘Rolls’ On Poorly Parked Cop

An on-duty police officer in Portland, Oregon, took out more than he bargained for when he parked his cruiser outside a Japanese restaurant back in March.

He was dashing in for some food to go when another patron, who happened to be a lawyer, pointed on that the cop was illegally parked.

Officer Chadd Stensgaard replied that he was allowed to do so, and then Eric Bryant filed a citizen complaint.

It took four months, but a judge has finally reached a decision. Stensgaard had testified that he left his car so close in case he had to respond to an emergency, but that wasn’t enough.

Oregon law allows emergency responders to park in no-parking zones when responding to emergencies or chasing suspects – but it says nothing about waiting for sushi.

At the end of his dine and dash, Stensgaard forked over 35 dollars. Or in this case, “chop sticked” over.
