Man Dies In Bizarre Accident While Trying To Save His Kids

It is a horrific story and one that tugs at your heartstrings. It’s about a hot day in August, a mistake that anyone could have made and a father who lost his life trying desperately to rescue his young children.
It happened in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sunday and began innocently when 22-year-old Miguel Lemus inadvertently locked his keys in the car with his kids inside.
They couldn’t open the door but because it was a hot day, time was of the essence.
So while the mom began looking for a spare set of keys, Lemus went back upstairs to his apartment to get a butcher knife, determined to pry open the door one way or another.
Perhaps it was his haste to get back to the vehicle. Maybe he just wasn’t looking. Whatever the reason, disaster swiftly followed. As Lemus was coming back, he slipped, fell down six stairs and the large knife accidentally plunged straight into his chest.
The father of two was rushed to a nearby hospital but died of his wounds. Cops have since ruled it a tragic accident.
His wife was finally able to get the door open and rescue the kids. They’ll now tragically grow up without their dad, whose last thought and act was to try and save them.
