Immediately after Toronto Police confirmed they’d arrested two young adults in connection with Tuesday’s shooting at Bendale Business and Technical Institute, cops assured their investigation was far from finished and that there would be more suspects sought.
On Wednesday, we brought you the exclusive story of the would-be robbery victim who says he was the intended target of the bullet that felled one of the accused. He was adamant there were four people involved and it seemed police would be looking for at least two more.
And that sparked a public plea for the suspected triggerman. But we can no longer let you know who he is or anything about him. Permission to release the name of the young suspect – who’s just 16 – has now expired and under the law, he can no longer be identified.
Cops received the special go-ahead from a judge to temporarily tell you who he was, but have not yet been able to find him. The hunt for the suspect continues and police are still pleading with him to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.
Police are already holding two more suspects in this case. One is 18-year-old Mark Deicsics. The other is the 16-year-old who was hit by one of the bullets and was charged in connection with the robbery. He remains in hospital and under the law, he can’t be named.
Though we can no longer legally tell you who the still-at-large teen is, if you know him or where he’s hiding authorities desperately need to hear from you. Call (416) 808-4100 if you have a clue.
