Arrest Made In October Hit And Run

Street racing may be to blame for a hit and run crash that sent one woman to hospital and at least one driver speeding away from the scene of a crime.

After weeks of searching, Toronto police believe they found the man behind the wheel and made an arrest in the case Friday.

Officers allege that a woman and a man were crossing Bathurst near Melrose in the early morning hours of October 19.

Around 2:20am, the 34-year-old was struck by one of two cars that were traveling at very high speeds, possibly racing. The male pedestrian was not injured.

Neither driver stopped but one of the cars was seriously damaged, and police were able to issue a description based on the debris found on the streets.

They put the word out to body shop owners that they were looking for a 2006 or 2007 red MazdaSpeed 6, a relatively rare vehicle in the GTA.

That information led them to the suspect.

Telman Kudratov, 22, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Stop After Accident Causing Bodily Harm

He will appear in court Saturday.
