DVP Reopens Ahead Of Schedule

Good news for motorists in the city: the Don Valley Parkway has reopened 12 hours ahead of schedule.

The DVP was shut down for its annual spring maintenance at 2am on Saturday and was expected to remain off-limits until the Monday morning rush hour. But both north- and southbound lanes were back in business around 6pm Sunday.

The artery was closed in both directions from the 401 to the Gardiner so crews could clean out catch basins, fix lights, fill potholes and repair winter damage.

The yearly ritual came a bit earlier this year – it usually falls in May. And officials say that other well-used thoroughfare, the Gardiner, should be construction-free this summer.
