Apple Says It’s Fixed iPhone Security Flaw

Apple says it’s fixed an iPhone security flaw that allows hackers to kick users offline and potentially take over the devices by sending them text messages.

The California-based company issued a software fix on Friday after the flaw was exposed at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas.

Similar problems were found in phones running Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating systems. The Android weakness has since been fixed and Microsoft is looking into any vulnerabilities in its software.

Apple said users would be prompted to download the fix when they plugged their iPhones into their computers.
