City Report Outlines Growing Bed Bug Problem

The author of a recent city report outlining Toronto’s increasing bed bug problem wants us to know the little critters don’t discriminate.  Despite the commonly held perception that bed bugs are relegated to the domain of homeless shelters and seedy hotels, Sean Meagher maintains they’re currently shacking up in upscale neighbourhoods and fine establishments as well.

“We see bed bugs in every corner of every place, we see beg bugs in every neighbourhood and we see bed bugs in every type of housing,” Meagher told CityNews.

According to his report, bed bugs are an increasing problem, not only in Toronto, but province-wide, and they are being found in offices, schools, movie theatres and furniture stores.

“Anyone who thinks they are separate from the folks who might get bed bugs are mistaken,” he adds.

“We need provincial leadership to make sure that we are doing this right and we are doing it everywhere.”
