Hydro One crews are working to restore widespread power outages in eastern Ontario.
The Ottawa area was hard hit, with more than 5,000 customers affected in the Vankleek Hill area and more than 1,200 affected in the Winchester area.
Spokeswoman Marylena Stea says the outages are due to trees and heavy snow falling on power lines.
About another 7,000 customers in the Cobden, Tweed, Arnprior and Perth areas are also in the dark.
Stea says power is expected to be restored by midnight tonight.
As well, a pole fire caused by ice and wind has left more than 6,300 customers without power in the Bancroft and Barry’s Bay areas.
