Kicking Ass With Hit-Girl

Kick-Ass, based on the Mark Millar comic series, follows a geeky teenage boy who decides to put on a costume and fight crime under the moniker of “Kick-Ass”. He doesn’t do so well at first, being beaten to a pulp and run over by a car when he tries to stop a car thief. Along the way he inspires other wannabe superheroes though: enter the father-daughter duo of “Big Daddy” (Nicolas Cage) and “Hit-Girl” (Chloë Grace Moretz). They have a bone to pick with the crime lord in the city and are very well armed, taking the superhero shtick to a much higher level than “Kick-Ass” expected.

While Cage delivers one of his finest performances to date as “Dig Daddy”, it’s “Hit-Girl” who steals the show. She kills a whack-load of people while swearing like a pirate, even dropping the highly taboo “C” word at one point. Equally funny and shocking, the character has generated a lot of controversy amongst critics, mainly because of the age of the young star who plays her (she is only 13). Moretz doesn’t seem fazed by the attacks on her and her parents and says it’s just a movie.

Watch the full interview with Moretz below. Kick-Ass is in theatres on April 16.
