Animals killed following break in at St. Catharines petting zoo

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Four small animals are dead, several others were injured, and a young goat is missing after a break-in at a petting zoo and park.

The gruesome discovery was made Tuesday morning by a parks and recreation staff member at the Happy Rolph Conservation Area.

Among the animals killed were a rabbit, chicken and goose. The rabbit was beheaded and stuffed onto a parking sign.

Other animals were shot with pellet and BB guns.

Niagara police said smashed beer bottles were found in one of the animal stalls, lined up as if they were used for target practice.
