TTC Now Offering Trip Planner Mobile App

The TTC is trying to make your commute quicker and easier. After receiving more than 3,000 suggestions on how to improve its online trip planner the commission has rolled out a new and improved online service along with apps for mobile devices.

The TTC launched the beta version of its online trip planner in early February to mixed reviews but after apparently taking users’ advice into account the service has gone into “full production”. Try it out here.

It offers three travel options and includes walking time. Stop numbers for streetcar routes are also included.

And commuters can now access the trip planner from their mobile devices. The application allows you to punch in your departure and arrival points, and provides the quickest route options, fare information and service alerts.

The commission plans to offer users the ability to filter the kinds of alerts they receive. For example, you can choose a specific subway line, or bus route to get alerts on. That will be offered in October.

And later this year, the TTC will announce details of its Open Data plan, which allows third-parties such as Google Transit, to use TTC data to build transit applications.
