A wind warning issued earlier in the day for Toronto is now over.
Hamilton, Dufferin-Innisfil, Halton Region, Peel Region, Waterloo-Wellington, and York-Durham were also affected by the weather alert.
Environment Canada was calling for winds approaching 90 kilometres an hour, but declared the danger over shortly after 3pm Wednesday.
The warning was prompted by a devastating storm that struck Chicago Tuesday morning. But the system didn’t quite pack the same punch when it swept the Toronto area Tuesday evening.
The storm brought powerful wind gusts and heavy rains to Chicago, but seemed to ease up as it headed north of the border.
Despite the wind, temperatures in Toronto were mild and the forecast called for sunny weather with cloudy periods. We saw a high of 19C for much of the day, with a low predicted of 12C.
As for Thursday, we’ll see cloudier skies, lower temperatures, and a chance of rain. The mercury will hit a high of 12C and there’s a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon and in the evening.
