Principal Charged With Stealing From Student Fund

A long-time school principal has been charged with stealing money from students.

Terry Baytor, 58, of Brampton, is accused of taking money from a student fund.

Baytor was principal at Martingrove Collegitate Institute between 2002 and 2009.  He retired from MCI in December and is now principal at Everest Academy, a private school in Thornhill.

He was also a long-time national softball coach.

Police allege he set up an account specifically for student funds, and between January 2005 and December 2009, paid himself $16,000 from the account.

He is also charged with making only partial deposits into the account, allegedly stealing in excess of $70,000.  

He is facing charges of theft over $5,000 and Fraud over $5,000.
