Public meetings begin Monday to discuss proposed TTC route changes

TORONTO, Ont. – The first of several public meetings on proposed TTC route changes for 48 buses will take place starting Monday.

The TTC is looking to eliminate some bus routes that have fewer riders in order to allot more resources to busier routes.

“These are very low ridership routes, and we have other routes where we have crowding and delays, so we are trying to shift the resources to where the ridership is,” TTC chair Karen Stintz told 680News.

These changes are being considered for implementation in May 2011.

Four public meetings are scheduled on the following days, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

  • Monday, Jan. 24 – at Metro Hall, room 308/309, 55 John St., direct access from St. Andrew station.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 25 – North York Central Library, Memorial Hall, 5120 Yonge St., direct access from North York Centre station.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 26 – Scarborough Civic Centre, rotunda, 150 Borough Dr., direct access from Scarborough Centre station.
  • Thursday, Jan. 27 – Elmbank Community Centre, lower level, 10 Rampart Rd.,  access from 36 Finch West, 46 Martin Grove, and 191 Highway 27 rocket bus routes.
