Hurricane Hazel celebrates 90th birthday

TORONTO, Ont. – Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion turned 90 years old, Monday.

McCallion, who was born in 1921, became mayor of Mississauga in 1978, and has been re-elected ever since, making her the longest-serving mayor in Canada.

Several thousand people joined her over the weekend to wish her well, first at a fundraising event for the city’s new Sheridan College campus — which will carry her name — and then, during an open house at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre.
