A 20-year-old man is dead following a crash in Milton.
Halton Regional Police say Jordan Joseph Maltais was walking on Britannia Road between Fifth Line and Sixth Line around 10:40 p.m. on Friday when he was struck by a car.
The driver, a 46-year-old Milton resident, was not injured in the crash.
“Right now we’re investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision between a van and a pedestrian. The driver was travelling west and the pedestrian was travelling east,” Det. Cst. Chris Heffernan told CityNews.
The section of Britannia Road has no street lights, police said, adding the victim was wearing dark clothing.
It’s not yet known if speed or alcohol were factors in the fatal crash.
It’s the sixth fatal crash so far this year in Halton Region, and the third involving a pedestrian.
