Plane makes emergency landing at Pearson after smoke in cockpit

A plane that reported smoke in the cockpit was forced to make an emergency landing at Pearson International Airport Friday morning.

The American Eagle commuter flight with 52 people on board radioed ahead about the smoke problem. The aircraft landed safely at the airport around 9 a.m.

The attendant alerted pilots and the plane headed for Toronto.

No one was hurt.

There’s no word yet on what caused the smoke. Officials say if the plane cannot continue on to Chicago, alternate arrangements will be made for the passengers.
