Lady Gaga opens and closes star-studded MMVAs

TORONTO, Ont. – One of the biggest parties in Toronto kicked off Sunday night with a performance by Lady Gaga.
Thousands of people packed the streets of Queen and John for the MuchMusic Video Awards. Some fans lined up for days outside of 299 Queen Street West to secure a spot to catch a glimpse of their favourite musical act.
Up to 20-thousand fans were there to see such huge stars as Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Bruno Mars, Avril Lavigne and City and Colour.
The show was be co-hosted by 18-year-old Disney star, and girlfriend of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez.
Down With Webster, Shawn Desman and Fefe Dobson lead with four nominations apiece heading into the show, while other multiple nominees include Arcade Fire, Justin Bieber and Drake.
Some fans who waited patiently outside the venue told 680News they were able to catch a glimpse of Justin Bieber as he walked into a local Starbucks and that Lady Gaga waved to fans from her car window as she arrived early for the show.
Bieber was not scheduled to make an appearance at the MMVAs but surprised fans as he stepped out on the red carpet. Bieber walked away with the award for “Ur Fave Artist” and tied with Drake for International Video of the Year by a Canadian.
Other winners of the evening were Fefe Dobson, Classified and Lady Gaga.
Shawn Desman walked away with Video of the Year for his hit “Electric/Night Like This”.
