385 residents in northwestern Ont. rescued from fires

Nearly 400 people in northwestern Ontario have been airlifted to safety by the Canadian Forces as forest fires spread to their communities.
The military said in a Tuesday release that 385 residents from Fort Hope and Sandy Lake were rescued over two days beginning Sunday.
Two hundred and sixty-five members of Eabametoong First Nation were flown from Fort Hope to Greenstone on a Hercules military transport aircraft.
On Monday, 120 members of Sandy Lake First Nation were airlifted from Sandy Lake to Sioux Lookout.
Earlier this month, 510 residents from the northwestern Ontario community of Deer Lake were airlifted to safety by the military when wildfires threatened their safety.
