The Anaheim Ducks have avoided salary arbitration with centre Andrew Cogliano, agreeing on a three-year, $7.17-million contract.
Cogliano, who earned a $1-million salary with the Edmonton Oilers last season, was scheduled to have an arbitration meeting this week. His new deal will carry a cap hit of $2.37 million, with the salary breakdown as follows:
— 2011-12: $2,150,000
— 2012-13: $2,350,000
— 2013-14: $2,670,000
The Ducks acquired Cogliano from the Oilers last week in a trade that sent a second-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to Edmonton.
Cogliano never missed a game in his four seasons with the Oilers, recording 57 goals and 89 assists in 328 career games. Last year, he finished with 11 goals and 24 assists.
The Toronto, Ont., native was drafted by the Oilers in the first round (25th overall) of the 2005 draft.
