J.D. Fortune splits from INXS

INXS has lost its lead singer again.

Mississauga-native J.D. Fortune and the band have split up, the singer confirmed.

“I DID NOT LEAVE INXS AND I WAS NOT FIRED,” Fortune wrote on his blog. The split has been described as amicable, though Fortune had previously left the band in 2009.

At the time, he said he was fired at a Hong Kong airport.

He later rejoined the group, and earlier this year their single Switch went to No. 1 on the Canadian charts.

INXS will continue on without him, and Fortune plans to begin a career as a solo artist.

Fortune became the new face of the group after winning a 2005 reality television contest called Rock Star INXS.
