Tempers boil over at Leafs practice

After dropping four of their last five games, including a demoralizing loss to the rival Canadiens on Saturday, tempers boiled over at Leafs practice Sunday.
Teammates had to break up a brief scrap when Joey Crabb and Carl Gunnarsson dropped the gloves during a routine drill.
The dust up was a brief one, with Crabb landing two quick punches before they were separated.
Coach Ron Wilson didn’t take the battle too seriously.
“I think Crabby thought Gunner did something and it didn’t happen and they ended up in a two-second little battle that everyone is laughing about now.”
According to Crabb, the perceived infraction was a butt-end.
“We were just battling, it’s nothing much,” he said. “I thought he butt-ended me, he claims he didn’t, that’s fine we were working hard out there and trying to get better. A quick little tussle and that was it.”
Gunnarsson reiterated that there was no lingering bad blood.
“We are good buddies and as soon as it is over we are back to being normal,” he added.
The Leafs, who are mired in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, are likely hoping some of the passion shown in practice will carry over when they face the Islanders on Monday night.
