Source: Ramirez signs one-year deal with A’s

Manny Ramirez has signed a one-year contract worth $500,000 with the Oakland Athletics, according to ESPN’s Pedro Gomez.

Ramirez retired last season after failing his second drug test and subsequently being suspended for 50 games. Without rainouts, Ramirez will be able to play for Oakland on June 2 at Kansas City.

The Athletics recently signed Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, who said he would like to play with Ramirez.

The 40-year-old has 555 career home runs but struggled in his brief time with the Tampa Bay Rays last season, batting .059 in five games.
