A 49-year-old man was sentenced to 50 days in jail for assaulting a TTC supervisor, the commission said Tuesday.
On March 8, Emile DeGuire pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to 50 days in jail.
DeGuire was trying to enter the Dundas subway station without paying a fare on Jan. 18. A dispute occurred with the fare collector, and when a supervisor tried to intervene, he spat on her and threatened to fight the TTC employee.
Toronto police were called to the scene and DeGuire was arrested.
DeGuire has completed his prison sentence with time served in pre-trial custody.
TTC employees are assaulted twice daily on average. They include physical and verbal abuse, the commission said.
