Minor earthquake hits Ottawa area

A minor earthquake hit the Ottawa area on Saturday evening, Natural Resources Canada confirms.

The agency said the 3.1-magnitude quake happened just after 5:45 p.m.

The epicentre was 17 kilometres north of Ottawa.

Earthquakes with a magnitude less than 3.5 are generally not felt.
