Break-in suspect found asleep in midtown pharmacy’s bathroom

It wasn’t the alarm sounding, broken glass and blood on the floor that led to the arrest of a break-in suspect at a midtown pharmacy Thursday morning, it was the intruder’s snoring.

Police were called to a Rexall-Pharma Plus on Mount Pleasant Road, just south of Eglinton after the alarm was triggered around 5 a.m. Officers spotted some broken glass in the back and blood, but after a search of the store they thought the scene was clear.

While officers were outside writing up the call the alarm sounded again. They went back in and heard snoring. They followed the sound to the staff bathroom where a 27-year-old man was asleep.

The man was treated for some minor cuts to his feet and was taken to a police station for questioning. There’s no word yet on charges.
