Inside 680News: Laurie Turcotte

This article is more than 5 years old.
1) How long have you been with 680News/Rogers?
Eight years.
2) What you like about 680News?
The main thing that makes 680News the best place to work — the immediacy of our news. I love being the first to find a traffic tie up on the cameras. Then doing a traffic alert, getting everyone through the problem until it clears, and finishing with a bang — another traffic alert! When I know I have done the best job possible, that is such an adrenaline rush!
3) What’s the favourite book you’ve read in last 12 months?
The Twelfth Imam by Joel Rosenberg.
4) Do you like coffee or tea?
Ganoderma coffee with reishi mushrooms!
5) Do you have pets?
A fabulous feline named Stella! She is 17 years old, full of attitude, loves her toys and kitty crunchies!
6) What city were you born in?
Lanigan, Sask.
7) What are your greatest accomplishments?
My greatest accomplishment was learning how to read and write Hebrew! I am now taking the language with Rosetta Stone, so that is my next great accomplishment!
8) What are your hobbies?
My favourite hobby is reading. Fiction, non-fiction, true crime, allegory, historical — almost anything I can get my hands on. I love forensics, and fact more than fiction.
9) What would your last meal on earth be?
Lebanese food: fatoosh, baba ghanouge and shish tawook.
10) What’s your favourite place (country, city) visited and why?
Gulf Shores in Alabama! I love listening to the waves crashing on the beach, and the sand was like fine white sugar (I brought some sand back, free of sand crabs). It was so beautiful and peaceful, I didn’t want to come back to Toronto.
