Canada Day long weekend: what’s open and closed

It’s the first official long weekend of summer and there are a slew of events across the GTA celebrating the Canada’s 146th birthday.
But doors will be shut at several other places. Here’s a look at what you can expect Monday, and click here to read our full Canada Day preview.
OPEN JULY 1:
- Most shopping centres will be open on July 1, including: Eaton Centre, Vaughan Mills, Square One Shopping Centre and Bramalea City Centre.
- Major attractions: Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Science Centre, Toronto Zoo, Canada’s Wonderland, CN Tower.
- Historical sites: Mackenzie House, Fort York National Historic Site, Colborne Lodge, etc., some are hosting special Canada Day events.
- City services: City parks, swimming pools and wading pools; click on links for specific pools and parks information.
- TTC will run on a holiday schedule. GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule.
CLOSED JULY 1:
- LCBO and Beer stores
- Libraries and City of Toronto offices
- Government buildings, post offices and banks
- Smaller grocery and retail stores
