A highly-anticipated new gadget was unveiled by Apple on Monday to great fanfare — and it did not disappoint.
Here are five things you need to know about the watch that is so much more than just a timepiece:
What styles does it come in?
It comes in three different styles, with the description from Apple listed below:
The Apple Watch: The cases are made of highly polished stainless steel and space black stainless steel. There’s a choice of three different leather bands, a link bracelet, a Milanese loop and a band made from high-performance fluoroelastomer.
The Apple Sport Watch: The cases are made from lightweight anodized aluminum and are available in silver and space grey colour schemes. The matching fluoroelastomer band comes in five different colours.
The Edition Apple Watch: The cases are crafted from 18-karat gold that Apple’s metallurgists have developed to be up to twice as hard as standard gold.
How much will they cost in Canadian dollars?
The Apple Watch: Between $699 to $1,459.
The Apple Sport Watch: Between $449 and $519.
The Edition Apple Watch: Prices start at $13,000.
What type of apps does it come with?
All the usual suspects are here (Music, Siri, Mail, Messages, Maps) along with some new exercise apps, as well as a new function for your camera, called Camera Remote:
“Apple Watch can be a viewfinder for the iSight camera on your iPhone. So you can take a perfect selfie or join the group shot. See a live preview of what your iPhone sees, then snap the photo or set the timer on the camera.”

How’s the battery life?
Apple says the watch features an”18-hour all-day battery life.” However, they do say that real-life battery life will depend on factors such as device settings and usage. In other words, you will need to charge you watch nightly (or daily, for you night-owls).
When will it be available to buy?
I know that many of you Apple-crazy consumers have been shouting this since you started reading, so thank you for being patient. Canadians can pre-order their watches on April 10, with the first being available two weeks later, on April 24.
