One Toronto bookworm found more than just a library book on Saturday.
A Reddit user named Internetmomo said he/she picked up a library book from Toronto’s Northern District Library, located near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue, and found some curious markings inside the book once they opened it up at home.
“Went to the library, got a book, opened it up… I think these are dead bedbug,” wrote the user.
The post has received multiple comments on Reddit with many people offering helpful tips on what to do with the book riddled with what appears to look like bedbugs.
Tips including throwing the book in a Ziplock bag, burning the book, or even throwing it into the freezer for four days.
“I usually like to read in bed or on the couch,” they said. “Maybe I’ll think twice before doing that again.”
The person said they were planning on bringing the book back first thing the next morning.
“I want to get this thing the hell out of my apartment.”
But this mishap won’t stop the user from continuing to rent out library books.
The person said they are an avid library supporter and 100 per cent of the books they read are from the library.
“Yeah, it’s gross, but people have a responsibility to keep this sh** contained,” they said. “When people don’t do that, that’s where the problems start.”
Well, there is always digital books.
