Toronto police are investigating after a man was found shot to death inside his apartment in Etobicoke on Monday morning.
Someone called 911 just before 9 a.m., bringing emergency crews to the highrise at 2067 Islington Ave., near Dixon Road.
Faysal Mohamed Hees, 26, had life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a tweet, police initially said the death was being treated as “suspicious.” Officers later confirmed homicide detectives had taken over the investigation.
In a news conference on Wednesday morning, Det. Leslie Dunkley said he believes an argument in Hees’s apartment late Sunday night led to the shooting.
He also revealed police had been called to the same unit around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday about a reported stabbing. They deemed it to be a medical issue.
Police have been canvassing the building and reviewing security video, but so far they have not released a suspect description.
They are asking anyone with information to call them at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
