Mapping the McArthur murder investigation

An auto shop, apartment building and three detached homes in southern Ontario are all somehow connected to the Bruce McArthur murder investigation. Here is what we know about each of those five locations and their link to the 66-year-old landscaper, now charged with two counts of first-degree murder.


95 Thorncliffe Park Drive, Thorncliffe

– This apartment building was McArthur’s primary residence, where he lived on the 19th floor
– Police have been investigating the scene since Thursday Jan. 18, possibly earlier
– Police have removed a number of items, including a computer
– A neighbour said he lived there with a male partner, according to The Globe and Mail


Mallory Crescent, Leaside

– This house is owned by Karen Fraser and Ron Smith; McArthur performed free gardening for the couple in exchange for the use of their garage and yard to store his landscaping supplies, according to The Toronto Star
Adbulbasir Faizi’s car was found blocks away, on Moore Avenue, shortly after he disappeared in 2010
– Police have removed gardening items from the garage, including large flower pots


2598 Cooper Road, Madoc

– Police began searching this location on Thursday Jan. 18, possibly earlier, and concluded their investigation on Monday Jan. 22
– Neighbours say McArthur kept birds there, earning him the nickname “Birdman”
– Phone goes to voicemail, registered to an R Horan


227 Conlins Road, Scarborough

– Two storey home previously owned by Brendan and Patricia Horan and neighbours say Roger Horan lived there, as Brendan and Patricia live in Ireland, according to the Globe and Mail





1604 Baseline Road West, Courtice

– Auto parts shop owned by Dominic Vetere
– Police searched in late September after McArthur sold the yard a maroon Dodge Caravan on Sept. 16
– Police came to the yard with a vehicle identification number, collected surveillance video and seized the vehicle
