Toronto metal band breaks up with epic Facebook post

By News staff

There have been some bitter band breakups over time —The Beatles, The Eagles, Oasis, and Pink Floyd, to name a few. If you thought those breakups were rough, think again.

Toronto-based metal band Witchrot announced Sunday that the band will be taking an “extended hiatus” (in other words, breaking up for now). But they didn’t break up due to creative differences, or battling over song credits, or someone suing someone else, or the lead band mate wanting to go solo.

No, that was not the case at all.

Instead, according to band member Peter who signed off the post on Facebook, the band parted ways due to a spat over a girlfriend. And no, not like John and Yoko (you can’t blame Yoko for breaking up The Beatles). In this case it appears the guitarist was having an affair with Peter’s long-time girlfriend.

“Due to the unfortunate reality of our guitarist f***ing my girlfriend of almost 7 years Witchrot will be taking an extended hiatus,” the post reads on Facebook.

“I however will continue the band in another space and time, being ripe with hate the music is slowly flowing and without a doubt will become the most devastating, torturous music I have ever created. Thanks for the support, stay heavy.”

Oh and yea, the drummer also died, Peter writes. Wait, what? He left that detail for the end.

So all in all, it has been a tragic time for this band. The photo below of a smashed guitar thrown in the garbage says it all.
