A lockdown has ended at three schools and a library in the city’s west end after police were called in to investigate a report of an 18-year-old former student with a gun.

Western Technical-Commercial School, Ursula Franklin School, The Student School, and Runnymede library — which are all near Bloor Street West and Runnymede Road — were all locked down.

There were also hold-and-secures in place at Runnymede Public School, Annette Public School, and Humberside Collegiate Institute and High Park Alternative Junior School, and they have also been lifted.

Toronto police responded to the area around 10 a.m. Thursday.

They told 680 NEWS a student came forward saying he saw a man inside Western Technical with a handgun.

Police said they were doing “a systematic search of the building from top to bottom” to ensure the safety of students, teachers and officers.

No injuries have been reported.

At least two to three dozen police cruisers were seen near the front entrance of Western Technical. Around a dozen TTC buses are at the scene as well.
