Four people are facing a total of 46 charges after a man was kidnapped and held for ransom.

Police say the 23-year-old victim was walking in the area of Yonge Street and Glendora Avenue, just south of Sheppard Avenue West, on the evening of June 26 when he became involved in a conversation with a man in a car just after 10 p.m.

The victim was lured into the vehicle where he was confronted by another man with a gun. Police say he was pistol whipped, threatened and had his hands bound.

The victim was then taken to his home, which was ransacked and a number of items were allegedly taken. As well, a demand for a large sum of money was made from his friends.

Police say they were then called and were able to find and rescue the man.

Kevonne Marshall, 19, of Toronto faces 17 charges, including kidnapping for ransom, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.

Richard Smith, 36, of Hamilton is facing 13 charges including kidnapping for ransom, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.

A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy – both from Toronto – are facing 10 and 6 charges, respectively, including kidnapping for ransom and assault with a weapon.
