Another public elementary school has been forced to temporarily shut down as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak.
Toronto’s public health unit says, starting Tuesday, Grenoble Public School — located in the Flemingdon Park neighbourhood — will be closed to all in-person learning and extra-curricular activities.
“We’ll work closely with our school partners to determine when in-person learning will resume,” Toronto Public Health (TPH) said in a series of tweets.
There is no indication as to how long the shutdown will last.
TPH has declared an outbreak at Dallington Public School in North York and Father Serra Catholic School in Etobicoke. The health agency is not recommending the closure of those two schools just yet.
TPH has notified all close contacts and is reminding the rest of the school body to watch out for any signs or symptoms of the virus.
Ontario reported 112 new COVID-19 cases across provincial schools on Monday, including 95 student-related infections. There are 600 schools with at least one reported case of the virus and nine active school closures.
1/4: Due to an ongoing #COVID19 investigation, TPH is recommending that students at Grenoble Public School be temporarily dismissed from in-person school + activities starting November 23, 2021.
