City of Toronto welcoming back crowds to High Park for cherry blossom viewing

After a two-year hiatus, the City of Toronto is preparing to welcome people back to High Park to see the cherry blossoms in-person this year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, High Park was fully closed during the peak bloom in 2020 and the cherry groves were fenced off in 2021.
“As another sign of the progress Toronto has made in confronting COVID-19 and getting residents vaccinated, this year everyone will once again be able to enjoy the cherry blossoms in High Park,” the City said in a release.

This year, there are currently no plans in place to deter crowds from coming to see the Sakura trees. However, vehicle access and parking will be restricted inside the park, with the exception of TTC Wheel-Trans vehicles. The park will be closed to traffic on weekends and public holidays
The blossoms typically last between four to 10 days, depending on weather conditions, with the peak bloom expected in late April or early May.
The Bloom Cam will be streaming again this year, for those who want to enjoy the blossoms online. A link will be posted on the City’s cherry blossom page when available.
