Toronto police arrested a third person connected to a violent home invasion and robbery that involved one individual being shot and badly injured with a sawed-off shotgun.
Investigators say the home invasion happened on Jan. 5 near Morningside Avenue and Old Finch Avenue in Scarborough.
It’s alleged that a boy, who was alone in the house at the time, allowed the two suspects to enter. The boy was then assaulted and tied up with plastic zip ties.
After the two perpetrators stole personal items and left the residence, the teenager got free and chased the men. After catching up to them, police allege a struggle ensued, a firearm was discharged, and the boy was struck in the back.
He suffered life-altering injuries as a result.
TPS officers eventually located one of the suspects in the altercation. They discovered and seized a sawed-off shotgun, over one kilogram of fentanyl, and a loaded handgun. That same day, 22-year-old Sanders Thomas of Toronto was identified and arrested.
Thomas faced multiple charges, including robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault. He appeared in court on Jan. 6.

Further to the investigation, police say that after Thomas and the other suspect fled the area, the boy picked up a duffel bag containing some stolen items. The boy hid it in a nearby backyard before returning to the street where officers found him.
The duffel bag was discovered by police, who located a handgun, ammunition and a large quantity of fentanyl inside.
That same day, a 17-year-old was arrested and charged with several offences, including unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm. The teenager was not identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police located the third suspect and, on June 1, arrested 19-year-old Kody Lim of Toronto.
Lim faces several charges, including robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault. He appeared in court on Thursday.
