Toronto police have identified a 54-year-old man as the victim of an early morning fatal shooting in the city’s west-end over the weekend.

Police say they were called to the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue just before 4 a.m. on Sunday for reports of shots fired.

When they arrived they found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds inside a restaurant. He was transported to a trauma centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say there was a large gathering at the restaurant and the man was involved in an altercation when another person drew a firearm.
