Police in London, Ont. say a man has died in hospital after he was lit on fire early Tuesday morning.
One man was arrested and faces charges.
This comes a day after a Toronto man was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly fatally setting a woman on fire at Kipling Station in Etobicoke last month.
Officers say they responded to a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Admiral Drive and Trafalgar Street in London for reports that a man was found on fire by a citizen.
Before police arrived at the scene, the fire was put out, and police say the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries by paramedics.
Authorities confirmed the man died on Wednesday.
A suspect and vehicle description were provided to police, and after further investigation, a man was arrested in the 1800 block of Royal Crescent soon after, around 3 a.m.
“The investigation revealed that the 29-year-old victim and suspect are known to each other and were at a residence on Noel Avenue earlier in the evening,” police said in a statement.
“The two became involved in a physical altercation, and both individuals left the residence separately.”
Police say 32-year-old Bradley Joudrey of London has been charged with an attempt to commit murder, impaired operation of a conveyance and impaired exceed blood alcohol concentration.
Joudrey appeared in court on Tuesday. Investigators say additional charges could be laid.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who has information is being asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
