There are no reported injuries after a fire broke out at the Durham Regional Police property in Clarington Sunday evening.
It happened around 6 p.m. on Courtice Road, north of the 401, where large black smoke could also be seen over the highway.
The building unit is a storage centre for vehicles involved in serious collisions and other police cases.
The 401 was closed at one point in both directions, but has since been reopened.
There is currently an active fire at a building on Courtice Court. Crews are at the scene. Please avoid the area of Baseline Rd between Courtice Rd and McKnight Rd. Update to follow.
