Peel regional police say they’ve made an arrest in connection to a wild sword-swinging brawl in Brampton that was caught on video.
Police say Harjot Singh, 25, of Woodstock, was arrested on Monday and is now facing two counts of assault with a weapon for his alleged role in the melee.
The violent incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on August 28 in a parking lot located at McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue West, near the Sheridan College Davis Campus.
Warning: The raw video contains language that some readers and viewers might find offensive. Discretion is advised.
“Violence in our community will not be tolerated. Members of the Peel Regional Police continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible before the courts,” Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said in a release announcing the arrest.
Video obtained by CityNews shows at least one person holding what appears to be a sword and swinging the weapon. Others batter each other with fists and kicks.
Several people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the brawl, which Mayor Patrick Brown called “disturbing.”
The events depicted in a video filmed at College Plaza are disturbing. @ChiefNish assures me there will be zero tolerance for this behaviour.
