City of Toronto continues to hold COVID-19 booster, flu vaccine clinics ahead of holidays

A Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster has been approved for use in children ages five to 11. Charline Close reports.

With the holidays in full swing, City of Toronto staff are once again urging residents to get their COVID-19 vaccine boosters and flu shots.

At the beginning of December, the municipality launched a “Vax the Holidays” campaign and setup a number of locations to get the vaccines.

“Toronto Public Health strongly encourages people to receive vaccinations during the month-long campaign to guard against serious illness at a time when hospital emergency departments are filled with people struggling with respiratory illness,” City staff said in a statement issued Monday morning.

Since the campaign was launched, City of Toronto officials said nearly 18,400 COVID-19 and flu vaccine doses have been administered through City-run and mobile clinics.

Officials said as part of their ongoing campaign, they’re hosting clinics at community hubs. On Monday, teams were set to be at Rexdale Community Hub (they’ll be here on Tuesday too), Yorkgate Mall, the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre and the Toronto Public Library’s Weston branch.
