Sheridan Mall evacuated after fire in the underground

Sheridan Mall, in the area of Jane Street and Wilson Ave, was evacuated earlier after a fire broke out in the mall’s underground.

The fire has been put out and no injuries were reported but the evacuation order remains in place. The source of the fire is believed to be from a floor cleaning machine in a storage room.

Mall security tells CityNews that the mall will remained closed for the day.

The mall usually does not open until 12 p.m., though there were people were inside at the time of the fire and have not been allowed back inside yet.

One witness reported at least 12 fire trucks, an ambulance and a paramedic ambulance bus were all on the scene.
