Elderly pedestrian in life-threatening condition following North York collision

A 73-year-old man has been seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver remained at the scene.

Toronto police continue to investigate after a 73-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in North York on Monday night.

Officers were called to the area of Yonge Street and Florence Avenue near Sheppard Avenue East around 10:30 p.m.

Police say the driver of a vehicle was travelling south on Yonge at Florence as the pedestrian was crossing at the traffic lights from the east side of Yonge to the west. He was struck within the intersection.

Paramedics transported the 73-year-old to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene.
