A Brampton man is facing several charges, including fleeing from police, after he allegedly sped away from officers during a traffic stop and crashed into another vehicle with his tractor-trailer.
Peel Regional Police say on March 10, just after 9:30 a.m., officers witnessed the driver of a heavy tractor-trailer allegedly driving in a “no heavy trucks” zone in the Williams Parkway and Dixie Road area in Brampton.
It’s alleged that officers conducted a traffic stop and approached the driver, who fled at a heavy rate of speed in his truck. Police did not pursue the man due to the risk to public safety.
Officers observed the truck again in the Airport Road and Queen Street area a few minutes later. Once the man saw the police, he began driving erratically, investigators said.

A short distance away at Goreway Drive and Steeles Avenue, police said the tractor-trailer allegedly collided with another vehicle and failed to stop at the scene.
On March 20, investigators identified the driver as 28-year-old Lovepreet Singh of Brampton and issued a warrant for his arrest. Singh was taken into custody two days later.
He’s facing several charges, including fleeing from police, two counts of dangerous operation and failure to stop after an accident. Singh was held on bail.
Peel police say the 28-year-old has a history of renting vehicles using false identification. Insp. Wendy Sims says Singh “represented a real threat to public safety.”
“In March alone, we have laid 90 stunt driving charges and seized those cars from our roadways. Dangerous driving will not be tolerated in our region, and with the warmer months ahead, we are committed to ensuring these dangerous driving offenders are charged,” Insp. Sims said.
“For any driver who chooses to ‘flight from police,’ our Safer Roads Team will stay committed to bringing them to justice.”
