Security risk ends at Guelph University after on-campus buildings evacuated

Three on-campus buildings at Guelph University were evacuated on Monday following a bomb threat, police said.

Rozanski Hall, the Bullring and the Landscape Architecture building were evacuated this morning. The university issued a security alert just before 10:30 a.m., urging students and staff to vacate the on-campus buildings immediately.

Guelph police later confirmed that officers were notified of a bomb threat at the school at 9:30 a.m. and initiated the evacuation as a precaution. Guelph University tweeted that individuals in the area were moved to a safe space.

A canine unit with Halton police trained in explosives detection attended and cleared the building. No explosive device was found.

Several hours later, just before 3 p.m., the university confirmed that the security risk was over, announcing students, faculty, and staff could return to collect their personal items.

No injuries were reported.

A university spokesperson said the 11:30 a.m. exams at Rozanski Hall have been cancelled and moved to Wednesday, April 26, at the same time and location.

Exams scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Rozanski Hall will proceed in alternative locations, and instructors will notify students of the updated exam location. The university said 7 p.m. exams in Rozanski Hall would proceed as scheduled.
